Beta choirs info

Welcome, choirs!

My name is Julie Cavanagh, and I have dedicated much of the last two years to creating a collection of 77 SATB songs that capture the essence of major calendar and life events, which I've titled "Songs for all Seasons." This project was inspired by the realization that there is an abundance of public domain poetry just waiting to be brought to life through music for choirs.

I am eager to see these songs published, but I cannot do it alone—I need your support and collaboration.

You may be familiar with the concept of Beta testing, where intended end users explore a product and provide feedback. Today, I would like to invite you to be a Beta choir for one of my songs. You will have the opportunity to use the song in many ways as if you had purchased it, allowing you to create copies and perform it in concerts—the major difference is that it cannot be resold or loaned out (full details can be found in the Beta Test Agreement).

As part of this journey, you will receive:

  • A PDF copy of the SATB version
  • A PDF copy of the SATB plus piano reduction (while all the songs are written to be performed unaccompanied, I've composed a piano part for rehearsals or if your choir needs a little support)
  • A PDF copy of the piano part alone, for ease of practice for your accompanist or conductor
  • A link to a computer-generated tutorial video on YouTube

In exchange for this opportunity, I kindly ask that you learn the song I send to you, record a video of your choir singing it (ideally in a concert setting, but a quality rehearsal will also be immensely appreciated), and return the video recording plus feedback to me regarding its musicality, singability, audience reaction, and anything else that inspires you, by 30th June 2025.

If you have any unanswered questions, please don't hesitate to contact me here.

If you know anyone else who leads a choir, I would be truly grateful if you could forward a link to this page to them. It must be an SATB choir that meets a reasonably high standard. Thank you!
